Features of the Chugoku Region1

1.Accumulating a Diverse Range of Industries, and Providing Locations for Companies with Unique, Best-Selling Products

The Chugoku Region is home to many leading companies, and a diverse range of industries, that are active in many fields, including manufacturing, software, and distribution. Among these, there is a particular focus on the manufacturing industry; the Chugoku Region is the base of manufacturing in Japan.

One factor that contributed to this is a history of technology from traditional industries, such as Tatara ironmaking, that have been passed down for many generations and developed into modern industries. In addition, industrial development that is unique to the region, by making use of agricultural products and mineral resources, can be found here. Further, many global companies that develop/introduce advanced technology are also located in the region. A major feature of the Chugoku Region is its role as home to many companies with unique, best-selling products that make use of both traditional and advanced technologies.
