Chugoku Economic Federation is a multifaceted economic organization consisting of members drawn from various companies and economic organizations that conduct business activities mainly in the five prefectures of Japan’s Chugoku Region.
Since its founding on October 31, 1966, Chugoku Economic Federation has been conducting research on the important economic and social issues facing Japan and the Chugoku Region, along with gathering and consolidating unbiased feedback from Chugoku Region’s business community. Chugoku Economic Federation utilizes this information and insight to engage in activities aimed at contributing to the economic development of Japan and the Chugoku Region.
To fulfill this mission, Chugoku Economic Federation established nine standing committees. These committees conduct research studies on specific issues, release their findings to the public, and collaborate with various businesses, governments and academic organizations to gain a deeper understanding of the economic and social situations, both at home and abroad. Chugoku Economic Federation then submits policy proposals and requests to the national government, ministries, local governments and various other related organizations as the collective will and view of the Chugoku Region business community.
The Federation’s activities are reflected in a variety of efforts, including the establishment of domestic and international transportation systems in the local region, and the formation of a broad “international trade zone,” which promotes the flow of people, goods and information to this region from throughout the world, starting with the Asia/Pacific region.
Other economic federation organizations exist nationwide in every region of Japan, including the regions of Hokkaido, Tohoku, Chubu,Hokuriku, Kansai, Shikoku and Kyushu.
