Nakashima Propeller, the core of the Nakashima Group which draws on the history of Nakashima Foundry established in 1926, is the world’s top manufacturer of marine propulsion equipment. We focus on a build-to-order approach. In 2015, we received the Prime Minister’s Award at the Monozukuri Japan Awards for the development of propellers using new materials.

■ Marine propulsion equipment (fixed pitch propellers)(Domestic share: Approx. 100%, Global share: Approx. 30%)

We use a combination of digital technology and highly skilled craftsmen who can use sand to create a casting mold without a model, and who can find errors of only 1/100th of 1 mm simply by touch during the finishing process, to manufacture propellers that are customized according to each customer’s needs. We have manufactured approximately 1 million propellers for ships of varying size, from diameters of 18 cm to about 10 m.
